"This overnight hike is so wonderful, itās one I try and do every year. This time around, myself and 7 friends decided to make the mission after work on Friday. For the first day our group was split in 2. The one half the more forward-thinking ātook a half dayā crew and the other, bags barely packed āwinging itā crew. I found myself in the latter.
We did the hike over Valentines Day (cute) but that also meant blistering hot Cederberg weather. We arrived in the car park at about 7pm and hiked in the dark until we reached a small river crossing. This was where we camped and feasted on our precooked pasta and pesto.
The next day (Saturday) we got up early and made the short mission to the big majestic oak tree, that will be our home for the rest of the weekend. It was also where we met up with the rest of our group.
The rest of the day was spent at the 'Die Hel' rock pool. Think Olympic size rock pool with water at the perfect temperature. GLORIOUS. Long-ish walk back to the Oak tree for dinner, chats, a little whiskey, and rooibos tea.
The next morning we took a hike back to our car and got home at a reasonable time for a Sunday. On Monday we were all the absolute best versions of ourselves ;)
