Where is your MicroAdventure located?
North of Oudtshoorn, Western Cape
How long is the MicroAdventure in total, out and back?
Perfect for a long weekend... Can be done in 3 - 4 days
Give the people a short description of your MicroAdventure.
Drove north from Oudtshoorn to De Hoek (30km) campsite in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains. Set up camp, and spend the remainder of your time enjoying South Africa's only limestone crag.
With huge, overhanging walls, it is the perfect place to put yourself to the test and push your abilities! We wake up super late... walk to the crag... climb... have coffee... climb some more... head back to camp when the sun sets... braai... bed... repeat!
How do you get to the start? Please share some directions.
-Drive to Oudtshoorn (shopping)
-Continue north to De Hoek Mountain Lodge
-Driving into the Lodge, the crag is on your left
-The path to the crag is located on the side of the road, next to the telephone pole
How much did it cost (per person)?
R0 - R250 per person
Best time to go?
Basically year round... Spring and Autumn have milder temps though
A quick note about safety. Can you do it solo? Do you need a crew?
A crew is always lekker. Plus you need a belayer.
What sport is this adventure most related to?
Climbing
Do you need any special permissions / permits?
Nope
How difficult is the MicroAdventure?
1 out of 10
Any final tips?
- Take a downy, even if it's summer
- Take your whole bed... you can park your car next to the campsite (#glamping)and it's important to sleep comfy to send hard
- Bring a camera... It's a stunning area and you have got to get something for the insta!
